Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Labor and Delivery Nurse to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will provide comprehensive care to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth. Your expertise will ensure the safety and well-being of both mother and baby throughout the labor and delivery process. You will work closely with physicians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care in a supportive environment.
Duties
- Monitor the health status of mothers and newborns during labor and delivery.
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients regarding labor processes, pain management options, and postpartum care.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate urgent care and acute pain management strategies.
- Participate in memory care initiatives for patients with specific needs during labor.
- Engage in home community care discussions when appropriate for post-delivery support.
- Utilize ICD-10 coding for accurate documentation of patient conditions.
- Support surgical teams in the operating room (OR) when necessary.
- Provide specialized care for geriatric patients as needed during labor and delivery.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols.
License/Certification:
- 1+ year of recent L&D experience
- RN (Required)
- BLS Certification (Required)
- ACLS Certification (Required)
- NRP, and AWHONN (advanced)
